WELCOME TO THE 21st FAVERSHAM HOP FESTIVAL
This year's 21st Faversham Hop Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever before. The Faversham hop festival, is a weekend of hop celebration & family fun, that takes place every year in the picturesque medieval streets of Faversham. This year will feature another selection of local and national musical talent, street theatre and the widest array of local produce possible ! Not forgetting the local cultural activities displayed throughout the town.

This hop festival is a FREE traditional celebration of when thousands of people travelled every year to the hop gardens of Faversham to work - many people saw it as a holiday with pay. The day would begin with songs, stories and light working followed by an evening of music, drinks and games. The festival today is a wonderful reminder of those times. Every first weekend in September will see hundreds of people gather in the streets and particularly the market square of Faversham to prepare for music, fun, food and drinks !
The entertainments committee have been working hard to bring back the "family atmosphere" that the Hop Festival always used to have. The acts on the main stage will reflect this, encompassing not only pop music but folk, choirs, comedy, Irish dancing, even a poet !
The finale on Sunday will feature Wheeler Street, the local folk rock band who were "discovered" at the Hop Festival and have since played every major festival in the country. In the streets, we have "Granny Tourismo" back again by popular demand (Hell's Grannies on their motorised shopping trolleys), plus comedy, juggling and jesting, plus of course the ever-popular Punch and Judy. Morris dancing has always been a mainstay of the festival, and many of our regular dance teams will be gracing the streets again. The Preston Street stage will continue to be a showcase for young, local bands.
Faversham Hop Festival for the 2nd year is organised in house, this year by Faversham Hop Festival Ltd, a not for profit company. The company wishes to thank all our sponsors including the many stalls without which this festival would not be possible.
